Stephanie Lask aka Steph Love is a spoken word artist and web designer, originally from Virginia Beach, VA currently residing in Norfolk, VA. She graduated from Norfolk State University in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in graphic design. She fell in love with the art of poetry in elementary school and has been writing ever since.
She got her start at an open mic at the now closed Soulicious Cafe in Norfolk, VA back in October of 2009 and has excelled into a poetry career ever since. She has featured all over the Hampton Roads area, in addition to performing on a local radio station, Hot 91, and the internet radio station, Fresh Radio. She has also featured, performed, slammed and hosted poetry events virtually, since the start of the pandemic in 2020.
She is the current slammaster of the adult slam poetry team, Verb Benders. They currently hold the 6th place rank, out of 32 teams in the southeast region as of 2019. She hosts these poetry slams, in person at the Venue on 35th St in Norfolk, VA. She is also a teaching artist with a non-profit organization called Arts For Learning, the Virginia Affiliate of Young Audiences. Through this organization, she teaches different styles of poetry to students, ages ranging from elementary to high school, and also adults.
