Greetings to you and to all of our SoFried slamily!

We are well on our way towards registering 32 team/16 Indies for our all-virtual edition of Southern Fried Poetry Slam from June 8-12, 2021. This year, we are guaranteeing $6,000 in cash prizes! More important than the money, we’ve been working diligently this year to ensure that our community will find a safe space in which we can share our words and ideas with one another.

So far, we have 9 teams and 2 Indies locked in from all over the South and United States. We even have one team registered from Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates! As an important part of our SoFried family, we are asking you to spread the word to your poetry communities. Since we are online this year, registering a team has never been easier as we are relaxing some of the requirements to form a team. Choose the members you want as long as they represent a venue. The 29th edition of Southern Fried Poetry Slam will broadcast bouts free of charge to Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram Live. All other side bouts, open mics, workshops, talks, cyphers, and more will be in our Echo virtual space which is an avatar-based world. On May 6, we will have our next Slammasters Meeting. This virtual event will be a great way for current Slammasters to receive critical updates and let their voices be heard regarding developments with our June 8-12 festival and competition. We are only 45 days from another SoFried reunion! Although we are unable to be together in person this year due to COVID-19, we are hopeful that we will still be able to connect in meaningful and positive ways this June!

Teams and Indies can now register to compete for $6,000 in cash prizes. For $275 (Teams) or $175 (Indies), you can be a part of America’s largest and longest running poetry festival and slam competition. 

Note: As we are a non-profit organization, we need our SoFried community’s support to continue growing and being of service to our community. Due to the aforementioned, a $20 annual membership fee is mandatory to compete in the festival . We appreciate your support!
