2019 Tournament Update – 21 Days! • Southern Fried Poetry, Inc.

Greetings Southern Fried Family!

We are 21 days out from the 27th annual Southern Fried Poetry Slam and beyond excited to see you once again!! We just want to touch base with you and share the schedule of events as you prepare your trip to Fayetteville, North Carolina this June 5th – 8th.

Schedule of Events

Host Hotel

We would like to remind poets that single rooms are still available at the host hotel, each with a king bed and pullout sofa. You can reserve a room in our block ‘Southern Fried Poetry 2019’ at the Fayetteville Courtyard by following the Host Hotel link on our website. You can also use our website to reserve a double room at our overflow hotel Wingate by Wyndham, which shares a parking lot with the host hotel.

Tournament Registration

We are happy to announce that registration has been filled for both the team and individual competition. Several teams and individual poets have signed up to be on the waiting list in case anyone drops from the competition, so we are closing the waiting lists as well. See a complete list of competitors.

Volunteers

We are looking for volunteers for this year’s event. We hope you’ll help us run one of the largest poetry festivals in the country. Sign up online to volunteer. Reminder: all teams are required to provide one volunteer for at least one bout during the week.

Merchandise and T-shirt Sizes

You will soon be able to preorder the official 2019 Fayetteville, NC Southern Fried shirt. We encourage you to preorder your shirt to ensure that we reserve one in your size. T-shirts are only $5 dollars for competing poets who preorder. Shirts will also be available for purchase at the tournament for regularly price, along with pins, patches, and other merchandise. Venues

Finally, we want to bring it to your attention that there is approximately a 5 mile distance or fifteen minute drive between the event spaces and the host hotel. The host city has plans to provide transportation options, giving priority to patrons with mobility issues. We want to let you know so you can plan accordingly and encourage other modes of transportation and volunteers to help us get patrons back and forth from events safely.
