Southern Fried is just two weeks away, and we’re just as excited as you! We can’t wait until we see our slamily the first Tuesday of June, but until then, here are a few things for your attention.

2019 Bout Draw

First, we want to let you know that the bout draw for the tournament will occur this Thursday, May 23rd. The list will be made available on our website and social media pages that evening.

Update Your Team Members

Second, we’re trying something new at Southern Fried this year: live scoring! If the beta is successful, poet scores will be updated in real time. People could follow the bouts live, and there will be no more waiting up late for the tabulation of scores. However, in order for the live-scoring program to work, we need as accurate information as possible. Slammasters, please update your team member information as soon as possible by visiting https://www.southernfriedpoetryslam.com/2019-teams-indies/. Providing tournament staff with updated information will also dramatically decrease your time at registration.

Official Southern Fried 2019 T-shirt

We want to let you know about a limited time deal on T-shirts. The official Southern Fried 2019 shirt will be available for purchase at the tournament, but for one week only, registered teams can buy group orders for only five dollars (5USD) a shirt. Just follow the link at http://ourplace.ticketleap.com/tshirts/. This is the only way to ensure you get the right size shirt to take home!

Host City pre-order t-shirts will be available online for teams and indies until May 27th to allow time for printing. If you are unable to order during this time, you can email your t-shirt sizes to ourplacenpo@gmail.com to make sure sizes will be available at orientation. Shirts that are not pre-ordered or paid for by orientation will be ten dollars (10USD).

Events

Finally, we have had some inquires about admission to events. Please inform festival guests you know that all events are free to the public, except for the Erotica Open Mic and Finals. Final day festival passes will be made available on our website for twenty-five dollars (25USD) which includes admission to indie, team and haiku finals as well as admission to the after party. Reminder: Registered poets have access to all festival events.
